How Brave?

Wonderful blog post asking, How Brave Will You Be This Year? which deserves a look and some thought. I think most of us would say we are frustrated with our government or this or that with our policies or this or that injustice in the US or abroad.

I'm tired of the ridiculous and pathetic political posts that people share on Facebook or elsewhere with no consideration to the underlying facts in the post. I saw one today about events in one state that were critical of one official and his policies but nothing in the post addressed the underlying assumptions, the initial conditions, the related factors, etc. It was just a ranting post about some terrible fiscal and public policy and how all those who believe it in are stupid.

These are difficult times. We need leaders in the US Congress and in our state legislatures and in the white house and in our governors mansions that can think and who are willing to do the right thing no matter what their 'party' thinks.

There was a clip from The Newsroom that I also saw this week that reflects a lot of how I think. See it here.  We have no entitlement here in the US. We are just another country where some wise men long ago set us on the right path and we did well for a long time. We need to keep trying to do the right thing.

I think my original presidential platform is valid.

Time to be brave and speak up for right things.
